Installing drupal modules

Installed cck and views modules; contrary to what I would have thought, putting the downloaded modules in the /modules folder does not make drupal see the new modules. The folder /modules only refers to core modules, the ones that come preinstalled with drupal. Instead, custom made or downloaded modules have to be placed in /sites/all/modules. Modules then are activated in Administer -> Site Building -> Modules. Going to do the same with backup and migration module. Found this tutorial very helpful:

Also, among different ways mentioned to remove the site’s name from the header’s image, decided to add in the stylesheet visibility:hidden in the following selector:

.header a, .header a:hover {
text-decoration: none;
color: #333;
visibility:hidden;
}
